white ant egg soup


if you walk through the street of thailand, cambodia, vietnam, your senses will be greeted by a slew of some of the most bizarre foods in asia. white ant egg soup is a mixture of eggs, partial embryos baby ants. people say the eggs pop in their mouths, releasing a sour flavour. the eggs are soft and apparently have a sour taste. 

 

care must be taken to overcook the insect and their larvaes so that the texture remains. the eggs have been described as musky and tasting somewhat like mushrooms.
